Plans for New Power Generation in Mississippi Could Increase Capacity by 15.3%, an Industrial Info News Alert

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- Developers are proposing more than 2,500 megawatts (MW) of new generation in Mississippi. If these projects are constructed, the state's generation capacity could increase by more than 15.3%, bringing its capacity up from about 16,600 MW to about 19,200 MW. Nuclear generation leads the planned generation with plans for a 1,550 MW unit addition at the Grand Gulf Station in Port Gibson owned by System Energy Resources Incorporated, a 90/10 joint venture of Entergy Corporation (NYSE:ETR) (New Orleans, Louisiana) and South Mississippi Electric Power Association (Hattiesburg, Mississippi).
