Business Intelligence Network Opens Online Facility in Second Life

Market Wire, March, 2008

Maintaining their position as an innovative online publication, Business Intelligence Network(TM) ( www.BeyeNETWORK.com ) has launched BeyeLAND, a Second LifeĀ® island dedicated to furthering the interactions of the business intelligence (BI) and data warehousing (DW) communities. With this investment, BeyeNETWORK becomes the first BI publication to have a presence in the Second Life online world.

Second Life is a 3-D virtual world specifically geared to enable a far greater level of interaction and community than you can generally get from a standard website. Total residents currently number more than 12 million and membership is free.

"We pride ourselves as being early adopters and while virtual worlds are still a maturing space, it was important to us to provide professional facilities and a place for the community to interact to further extend our already dominant presence in the BI marketplace," said Shawn Rogers, cofounder and editorial director of the Business Intelligence Network. "Our island will be open to vendors and readers alike who want to meet and discuss topics specific to our industry."

BeyeLAND is 64 acres of virtual land that includes a large auditorium for group meetings, smaller meeting facilities and will soon house key elements of the Business Intelligence Network content archives. In addition, there is an area allocated for vendors to host information kiosks for island visitors. The Network is looking forward to partnering with vendors from the BI space who would like to have a presence in Second Life.
