Profile on Business: New Restaurant With Country Store Theme Opens in Farmersville
Market Wire, April, 2008
The city of Farmersville has announced that a new restaurant has opened its doors, bringing the list of established businesses to more than 100. The new restaurant, "Charlie's Old Fashion Burgers," located at 602 State Highway 78 North, has a country store theme with time period gifts and accessories, and a soda fountain featuring hand-scooped ice cream and milk shakes. According to Farmersville Mayor, Don Smith, the new restaurant is a welcome addition to the city's diverse array of businesses and attractions.
"We are pleased to welcome Charlie's Old Fashion Burgers to our community and the many other wonderful businesses in Farmersville," commented Mayor Smith. "This will be one more reason for people to come visit Farmersville, and to see all that we have to offer."
According to the Mayor, Farmersville is a progressive community with historic roots located just 35 minutes outside of Dallas in northeast Collin County. Recognized as a "National Main Street City," Farmersville offers an historic downtown with brick-paved streets, quaint antique and specialty shops, and businesses housed in undisturbed architecture from the turn of the century. Newly developed industrial-park areas offer growth opportunities and rail service for easy reach to distribution channels. Businesses located in Farmersville range from high tech, energy and manufacturing to building supply, software engineering and more.
In addition, exemplary-rated schools, responsive city government, and stellar parks, including a splash park for children, a wildlife hiking and biking trail, and much more provide the "ideal, balanced lifestyle," according to the Mayor.
"For a town our size (just over 3,000), it is amazing all that we have going on," the Mayor continued. "Farmersville is a blend of old and new, established businesses plus start-ups, accessible by highway or town. We are a community just big enough to provide business opportunities and plenty to do, just small enough to provide a safe, quiet refuge from the hustle and bustle of the big city."
The owners of Charlie's Old Fashion Burgers said they picked Farmersville to open their new business after an extensive search for the ideal family-friendly location.
"To be honest, we looked at several different cities in Collin County to open this new restaurant," commented Rory Gloth, co-owner along with Walter Eshleman. "Initially, we checked things out on the Farmersville website, and we really liked what we saw. We liked the logo and the way the city was presented -- it seemed to have an historical feel, and yet it was sophisticated -- the balance we were looking for. So we came to check things out, and we fell in love."
