Simba Technologies Releases New ODBC SDK for Data Driver Development
Market Wire, April, 2008
Simba Technologies Inc., the world leader in standards-based data connectivity solutions for relational and multi-dimensional data access, announced today the release of SimbaEngine ODBC SDK 7.6. SimbaEngine ODBC SDK is industry's choice for quickly and easily implementing custom ODBC, JDBC, OLE DB and ADO.NET data connectivity to proprietary, relational and non-relational data sources. This latest release is the most powerful and capable release to date, adding Windows® Vista platform support, new documentation and numerous enhancements based on customer feedback.
"SimbaEngine ODBC SDK 7.6 extends several feature sets and key component updates to support developers with the latest development standards and trends," said Amyn Rajan, Simba Technologies' CEO. "Simba is a pioneer in ODBC technology. SimbaEngine is the leading SDK for implementing robust relational data connectivity and standards-based ODBC and JDBC drivers. With SimbaEngine ODBC SDK, as much as 99% of the work required to build an ODBC Driver is already done for you."
Since the SDK's introduction in 1992, following Simba's co-development of the ODBC standard with Microsoft, Simba has made numerous advancements in standards-based relational data connectivity - the latest culminating in SimbaEngine ODBC SDK 7.6.
SimbaEngine ODBC SDK offers customers broad platform support on Windows, Linux and Solaris for development of commercial-grade data drivers. With the latest addition of Windows Vista support, customers are now able to develop Vista compatible and certifiable data drivers.
In addition to added platform support, SimbaEngine ODBC SDK 7.6 includes numerous enhancements and fixes based on customer feedback. Most notable among these enhancements is improved tracing capabilities for easier and faster issue tracking and resolution. SimbaEngine ODBC SDK 7.6 also includes added documentation, enabling even quicker and easier ODBC and JDBC driver development.
SimbaEngine ODBC SDK 7.6 builds upon earlier releases with continued development support for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2005, working seamlessly with the .NET 2005 IDE to deliver the same power and flexibility available with the .NET 2003 IDE and Visual Studio 6 IDE. The SDK also includes Simba's SQL-92 compliant SQL engine, enabling Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to implement SQL connectivity to their data sources.
SimbaEngine is used by many ISVs to quickly deploy ODBC, JDBC, OLE DB, and .NET drivers for their own proprietary data sources. ISVs using the SDK gain the broad multi-vendor interoperability, and are able to natively connect numerous products like CrystalReports, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access seamlessly to their proprietary data sources.
