Media Advisory: Representatives From the SEC, FDIC and XBRL US to Discuss XBRL in Series of Informational Webinars
Market Wire, April, 2008
The use of XBRL software is rapidly accelerating driven in large part by the adoption of XBRL as a reporting standard by leading regulatory agencies. The US FDIC and many European Union Central Banks, under Basel II, have adopted XBRL as their required standard for reporting banks -- and the SEC is paving the way for standard SEC reporting in XBRL with its Interactive Data (XBRL) Voluntary Filing Program. XBRL allows companies, organizations and regulators to more efficiently and effectively generate, aggregate, validate, exchange and analyze business and financial information.
In an online series beginning Wednesday, April 16th, experts from XBRL US, an umbrella group for XBRL developers and users, the SEC, FDIC and a leading research firm discuss the growing standardization to XBRL, and provide an overview on the software and its various applications globally.
