Starwood Research Updates Coverage on EastBridge Investment Group (OTCBB: EBIG)
Market Wire, May, 2008
Starwood Research announced today that it has published a new analyst note on EastBridge Investment Group (OTCBB: EBIG) indicating that shares of the Asia-focused investment bank have the potential to double in price this year and quadruple in 2009.
In his latest note, Andrew White, CFA argues that EBIG's success in signing nine clients in under a year confirms that "proven Chinese companies [are] now lined up" to take advantage of the company's market access expertise and concludes that translating that burgeoning client list into IPOs could unlock substantial value as early as late 2008 -- provided, of course, those offerings happen on schedule.
"EBIG's primary investment case is dependent on management's ability to successfully list its client companies in the form of IPOs," White writes. "Until then, onus remains on management to prove they can close the deal(s)."
Key value drivers include:
-- EBIG's progress toward listing four clients (Chinese mall developer
YEWO, Australian vintner AREM Group, HK fiber optics company Amonics, and
Chinese school operator Wenda Education) in order to achieve management
goals of executing "two to three" IPOs per quarter.
-- A "conservative" management team's efforts to contain costs (and avoid
stock dilution) while building its franchise in the "gigantic" markets of
China in particular. CFO Norm Klein calls the company's model truly
"recession-proof."
-- The "interesting buying opportunity" potentially created by the
market's apparent lack of response to the company's ample recent newsflow.
