New Senior Executives Bring More Firepower to Nimsoft

Market Wire,  May, 2008

Nimsoft, Inc., the "Big 4" alternative for IT performance and availability monitoring solutions, today announced the appointment of two senior executives to increase the talent behind the company's aggressive drive for market share. John Smith, vice president of strategy, and Brian James, vice president of worldwide marketing, have been appointed to their positions to further the company's explosive growth and influence around the world. Both executives will report to Nimsoft President and CEO Gary Read.

"Brian James and John Smith bring exceptional skill sets and market experience to the Nimsoft executive team," said Read. "As we integrate the new technologies and staff we recently acquired, we are expanding our leadership team to drive the company's next phase of growth. John Smith's track record growing Indicative from its early roots within HP will be instrumental in leveraging our new assets and ensuring we deliver for new and existing customers. Brian James' successful track record in growing enterprise software companies and his familiarity with the performance and availability marketplace will accelerate our growth and recognition as the viable alternative to the Big 4. We welcome both to the Nimsoft team."

Vice President of Strategy John Smith said, "I am excited to join the Nimsoft team after its acquisition of Indicative. Nimsoft's focus on customer satisfaction, ease of use and scalability complement what we were doing at Indicative. Our vision and strategy is unmatched by the Big 4 or anyone else in the marketplace. I welcome the opportunity to work with our customers, partners and future partners to deliver what customers have always longed for: a performance and availability solution that lowers their total cost of ownership and significantly decreases the business risk of IT failure."

Smith is responsible for corporate and product strategy. He brings more than 20 years of experience in the areas of service management, network and systems management and operational support systems (OSS). In 2003, Smith founded Indicative Software, which was recognized as a leader in business service management. Before Indicative, Smith was co-founder and joint general manager of the Firehunter service management business at Agilent Technologies, which generated more than $50 million in revenue. At HP, he was a member of the management team that established the OpenView business, where he was instrumental in streamlining the product delivery lifecycle, negotiating multimillion-dollar OEM relationships and bringing new products to market.

"Nimsoft completed a record shattering year in 2007 and is well positioned for further explosive growth in 2008 and beyond," said Brian James, vice president of worldwide marketing. "This is a company with a solid product offering, world-class development team and extraordinary customer base. I look forward to helping customers free up money from their IT budget and get better control over their IT infrastructure by replacing their Big 4 monitoring software with Nimsoft."

James has more than 19 years of experience in enterprise software from marketing to business development and product management. James has strategically positioned several companies through years of high revenue growth and will be responsible for driving all marketing and brand strategy, corporate communications, demand generation and product marketing. In his most recent position as vice president of marketing at Cittio, a niche player in Nimsoft's space, he grew the company through new product and service offerings, a strong customer focus and innovative lead generation campaigns. Previously, James led global campaigns at Mercury Interactive (now HP) which he joined through its acquisition of Kintana. At Kintana, James repositioned the products and the company around IT governance, driving the company's growth to more $100 million and creating a central pillar for Mercury's Business Technology Optimization strategy. He has held senior management positions at Telelogic, Stratify, Oracle, and Andersen Consulting. James earned a MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, an MEM from the McCormick School of Engineering, and a BSE in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
