Extra Space Storage Inc. Announces Launch of Public Offering of Common Stock

Extra Space Storage Inc. (the "Company") (NYSE: EXR) announced today that it is commencing an underwritten public offering of 13,000,000 shares of its common stock. All of the shares are being offered by the Company. The Company has granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 1,950,000 shares of common stock to cover over-allotments, if any. Kenneth M. Woolley, the Company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and Spencer F. Kirk, the Company's President, have each committed to purchase 60,000 shares of common stock in the offering at the public offering price.
A shelf registration statement relating to these securities has been filed with, and declared effective by, the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The Company intends to use the net proceeds from the offering for debt repayment and for general business purposes, including potential property acquisitions.
Merrill Lynch & Co. and Citigroup Global Markets Inc. will serve as joint book-running managers for the offering. The co-managers for the offering are UBS Investment Bank, Banc of America Securities LLC, KeyBanc Capital Markets, and RBC Capital Markets.
