CIGNA Deploys New Cost-Efficient and Effective Data Protection
Market Wire, May, 2008
CIGNA is replacing its traditional internal computer network firewalls and VLANs with Apani EpiForceĀ®, to isolate and protect data and access for CIGNA's servers within their corporate network, Apani announced today.
One of the largest publicly-owned health and related benefits organizations in the United States and throughout the world, CIGNA is using Apani's software to protect its corporate network by isolating business-critical servers from potential security threats. EpiForce will help protect these machines without requiring the network to be reconfigured or changing the way employees perform their daily activities.
EpiForce is a software-based alternative to using network firewalls and VLANs for security inside the corporate network. EpiForce eliminates much of the costs associated with securing the corporate network, while introducing a significantly higher level of flexibility and efficiency to security administrators. EpiForce delivers cross-platform server isolation through logical security zoning and policy-based encryption of data in motion.
According to Craig Shumard, chief information security officer at CIGNA, "It was critical for us to find a solution that didn't impact the infrastructure and tools we already have in place. EpiForce meets these requirements and enables us to maximize flexibility in isolating and protecting servers within our corporate network and eliminate complexity by managing it from a central location."
"EpiForce is designed to help large companies deploy security policy in a way that is transparent to infrastructure, applications and users," stated Apani's vice president of marketing, Ryan Malone. "CIGNA is one of the most prestigious names in healthcare, and we're thrilled they have selected EpiForce, and look forward to working with them as they realize the benefits of EpiForce."
