Market Wire, May, 2008
Red Herring announced that FortiusOne, the leader in next-generation intelligent mapping solutions, was selected for the Red Herring North America 100 Award, given to private technology companies based in North America.
The Red Herring 100 editorial board reviewed North American entrepreneurial companies and identified the top 100 most innovative to include on its annual list. Past award winners include Google, Yahoo!, Skype, Netscape, Salesforce.com, and YouTube.
"We are so pleased that FortiusOne has been named a top company driving the future of technology," said Sean Gorman, CEO and founder of FortiusOne. "Our disruptive core technologies were created to leverage the emergence of Web mapping and other Web 2.0 innovations. Our next-generation GeoCommons Suite addresses the limitations of traditional analytic tools and the challenges in finding adequate data to solve real-world problems, enabling anyone to find, create and share geographic intelligence for learning, decision making and problem solving. More than ever, we continue to pursue our mission of making the world's data accessible and easy to use by everyone."
The 100 winning companies were announced at the Red Herring 100 North America event held on May 13, 2008 in San Jose, California at the Fairmont. The CEOs of the winning startups presented their innovative ideas and technologies to an audience of leading entrepreneurs, financiers, and corporate strategists. This year's Red Herring 100 North America event marked the 11th anniversary of the Red Herring 100 Awards. In celebration, the event featured keynote addresses from legendary VC investors and CEOs of leading Internet, information, and communications companies including: Ann Winblad, Co-Founder & Managing Partner, Hummer Winblad Venture Partners; David Lawee, Vice President of Corporate Development, Google; Dan'l Lewin, Corporate Vice President, Strategic and Emerging Business Development, Microsoft; and Michael Wishart, Managing Director, Goldman Sachs.
"Being recognized as a Red Herring Top 100 has validated our value proposition," said Chris Marentis, president and COO of FortiusOne. "With the first application of the next-generation GeoCommons Suite, Finder!, launching at this week's Where 2.0 Conference, we are only further asserting our leadership in driving the next generation of mapping with the convergence of GIS analysis and visualization capabilities with GeoWeb ease-of-use and collaboration."
