Market Wire, May, 2008
Wavesat, a leading supplier of Broadband Wireless semiconductor solutions, today introduced Odyssey(TM), its Broadband Wireless product family. Powered by a revolutionary, multimode 4G architecture, the Odyssey family of chipset and solutions offers customers access to multiple broadband wireless technologies such as WiMAX Wave2, WiFi, and XG-PHS as well as a seamless migration to future 4G technologies such as LTE.
The Odyssey chipset family is powered by a unique 4G multi-core architecture incorporating multiple ultra low power DSPs, offering high performance and yet low power consumption. Odyssey's architecture is specifically designed for high performance broadband wireless applications, enabling a single wireless consumer device to support multiple standard wireless protocols, and offer handset-class power consumption without compromising performance. The Odyssey product roadmap includes highly integrated solutions combining baseband processor, radio and memory on a single chip, and supporting multiple standards including mobile WiMAX Wave 2, WiFi, XG-PHS as well as LTE.
"The promise of mobile broadband attracts investors and consumers alike with the possibilities of 'anywhere access' to high-speed Internet and high-quality entertainment services. The mobile broadband products that will lead this revolution in communications and quality of life will be those supported by architectures that provide access to the current broadband wireless technologies and a migration path to future 4G services," said Daryl Schoolar, Senior Analyst for In-Stat." With its new multimode 4G Broadband architecture, Wavesat is well positioned to provide customers with a complete and competitive broadband solution which includes a roadmap to 4G."
"The introduction of our multimode Odyssey product family represents a key milestone for Wavesat and a major step forward for the industry. It further differentiates Wavesat from fixed protocol products currently on the market and validates the innovative technology at Wavesat," said Raj Singh, President & CEO of Wavesat Inc. "Our complete broadband solution is specifically designed to address the unique requirements of consumer handset and wireless handheld devices of today and tomorrow."
"The combination of the programmable architecture and high performance with absolutely no tradeoffs in power consumption or size, protects our customers' investment and accelerates their time-to-market," Singh added.
