SafeMed Collaborates With Google on Launch of Google Health
Market Wire, May, 2008
SafeMed , a provider of analytical software for advanced clinical decision support, announced today, in collaboration with Google on the launch of Google Health, a new product that helps users store, organize and manage their medical records online. Working with Google Health, SafeMed enables users to obtain personalized health feedback -- such as potentially harmful drug interactions and other preventative guidelines -- based on their own unique Google Health profiles.
Google Health was launched to the public today at a media event at Google's headquarters. The delivery of the SafeMed feature follows a successful pilot of Google Health at the Cleveland Clinic.
"Our software instantly personalizes, prioritizes, and identifies treatment options to help doctors and patients make better medical decisions," said Richard Noffsinger, SafeMed's Chief Executive Officer. "Working with Google will expand these capabilities and enable consumers to get precise and relevant feedback on treatment options within seconds."
The goal of interactive, intelligent platforms such as SafeMed's Analysis Engine is to empower consumers to take control of their health and potentially help prevent medical errors, which result in 770,000 hospital injuries and deaths each year, according to the U.S. Institute of Medicine.
"As online medical information proliferates," said Ahmed Ghouri, M.D., SafeMed's co-founder and Chief Medical Officer, "it becomes increasingly important to know which content is trustworthy and medically accurate. It's also important that such information be presented in understandable, relatable terms that affect consumers differently based on their age, gender, co-existing illnesses, medical history, lab test results, and medications they may be taking. Our software provides users with a dynamic tool that evaluates such data to generate usable, personalized health analyses in seconds."
SafeMed's Analysis Engine is one element of the company's industry-leading technology, which delivers advanced clinical decision support and enables personalized safety checks and quality of care analyses in real time.
