Dole Food Company and Robeks Fruit Smoothies Announce Grand Prize Winners of the American Wellness Challenge
Market Wire, May, 2008
Robeks Fruit Smoothies and Healthy Eats, a premium smoothie franchisor, and Dole Food Company, a leading supplier of quality packaged and frozen fruit products for foodservice, announce the grand prize winners of the first American Wellness Challenge to help families strengthen their commitment to wellness. DOLE and Robeks entered into a strategic marketing alliance last year that involves a variety of joint promotions and distribution of DOLE educational materials throughout Robeks' network of 150 stores nationally.
Catherine Huth of N. Olmsted, Ohio and Beverly Turner of Riverside, California each won a family wellness vacation for four at the prestigious California Health & Longevity Institute and Four Seasons Hotel, Westlake Village, California for four days and three nights, valued at $7,000 per family.
On hearing the news, Ms. Huth said, "I am thrilled to know that with this prize I can turn my own commitment to good health into a legacy for my three children who say they want to change their lifestyles and thinking, but need motivation. Our visit to the California Health & Longevity Institute will be a long overdue and memorable vacation."
Ms. Turner exclaimed, "I've never won anything! Fought weight problems all my life. All I've done is work hard and take care of my six children. No time to take care of me. Now, I have a chance to learn what to do."
Mesdames Huth and Turner submitted essays at their local Robeks location, which were judged on the originality, creativity and thoroughness of their response to the question: "Why is your family motivated to win the Robeks-Dole American Wellness Challenge?"
"If we all could eat a few more servings of fruit a day, we'd make great strides towards reducing obesity in America, especially in children," affirms Marty Ordman, vice president of marketing and communications for DOLE. "You can consume three to four servings in just one Robeks fruit smoothie."
Ms. Huth is a specialist with the Federal Aviation Administration at Hopkins International Airport. She's a cyclist, 10k race enthusiast and has overcome asthma and arthritis through healthier eating. She loves Robeks' turkey cranberry wraps and G-Snap(TM) juice. Ms. Turner works part-time as a receptionist at a car dealership and is also in training to be a reservation sales agent. She loves her Açai Energy Bowl(TM) and Venice Burner(TM) smoothies.
