Cleanfield Selected as a Finalist of the Ontario Centre of Excellence "Mind to Market" Award
Market Wire, May, 2008
Cleanfield Alternative Energy Inc. ("Cleanfield") (TSX VENTURE: AIR) is pleased to announce that its fully-owned subsidiary, Cleanfield Energy Corp., was chosen as a finalist for the Ontario Centre of Excellence (OCE) "Mind to Market" Award in collaboration with McMaster University's Department of Mechanical Engineering. The criteria for the award was based on the ability of an Ontario-based company to introduce innovative technology for the environmental and renewable energy sectors and to advance such technology and/or product(s) to a commercialization stage.
Cleanfield's President and Chief Executive Officer, Tony Verrelli, noted that "This is a tremendous honour to be recognized by the OCE. Without their help, in conjunction with McMaster University, it would not have been possible for Cleanfield to commercialize our modular Vertical-Axis Wind Turbine ("V3.5") and progress to our current status. We feel very fortunate to have such strong collaborative partnerships as we move towards a prosperous future."
Cleanfield also announces that one of its leading researchers on the wind turbine, Kevin McLaren, a Ph.D candidate from McMaster University, with a speciality in Fluid Flow and Aerodynamics, was nominated for the "Student Oral Competition" by the Ontario Centre of Excellence based on his research progress with the development and implementation of a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine design tool. He stated "I am very honoured to receive such a prestigious distinction from the OCE which will further complement my research within and beyond my area of expertise."
Another researcher in the collaborative association with Cleanfield Energy, was presented with the "Student Oral Competition" Award for his research in semiconductor nanowire photovoltaic technology. Parsian Mohseni, a Master's candidate from McMaster University's Department of Engineering Physics expressed that, "It is an honor to be recognized amongst the other students who presented at OCE Discovery. I believe our success at this competition is a reflection of the very exciting potentials offered by the McMaster University-Cleanfield Energy photovoltaic project."
Cleanfield congratulates both Kevin and Parsian for their accomplishments and is pleased to see their contributions recognized by the OCE.
