Opera recently released a report on the global trends of Mobile surfing and found that consumer behaviors translate from the PC to Mobile showing that Social Networks rank in the top 10 most surfed sites.
Buongiorno's Matteo Montan discussed the results of their recent Cell Surfing study and concluded that where mobile really triumphs is in flexibility and mobility. In other words, the mobile fits seamlessly into the user's lifestyle, where as the PC demands that the user and their lifestyle must fit around a stationary, wired up object.
iO Global's VP of Marketing, Peter Northing , discussed their Three Screen trial that they are conducting in Los Angeles this summer. Mr. Northing pointed out that the purpose of their study is to assist brands in understanding how they can work far more effectively with customers and drive adoption.
Newcomer to the UK market, Blyk , a Mobile operator for 16-24 year olds, offers free calling and SMS in exchange for accepting advertising. Co-founder Antti Ohrling said that focusing on this demographic allows advertisers an opportunity to reach and engage one of the more challenging audiences after just seven months in business, making them the fastest growing youth medium in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Bernd Langeheine, Director of Electronic Communications for the European Commission , discussed establishing a regulating framework for Europe. Having a multitude of countries for which to create a competitive and prosperous business environment has its challenges. The newest initiative for the 27 members of the European Union is the regulatory framework governed by the Public Sector. Overall, the role of this body is to propose reform and streamline systems and suggest regulating fewer markets. One of the mandates that Dr. Langeheine also discusses is opening up more Spectrum in the European Market.
