Collaborative Banquet a Fitting Finale to Successful CSCMP SFRT Program Year
Market Wire, May, 2008
Last evening, SF Bay Area non-profits OWIT-NC, APICS Santa Clara, Northern California's WERC Chapter, WIL and Golden Gate University joined CSCMP's San Francisco Roundtable for the Annual Collaborative Banquet. Incoming 2008-2009 CSCMP SFRT President, Michele Carroll, facilitated an Accelerated Networking reception before the banquet at the Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco.
'First time' non-profit exhibitors included the Center for International Trade Development ( www.citd.org ), Roots of Peace ( www.rootsofpeace.org ), (sponsored by the George S. Tuttle Law Firm) and StopWaste.org of Alameda County, reflecting CSCMP's interest in 'Greening the Supply Chain,' humanitarian logistics and the global business issues important to San Francisco Bay Area companies.
CSCMP presented its annual scholarship, doubled this year to $2,000, to Megan Smirti, a Ph.D. candidate at UC Berkeley and its annual conference sponsorship award to Anne-Marie Koivikko, an MBA student at Golden Gate University. Said Alan Davis, outgoing President, "We are very pleased at the caliber of competition this year for the scholarship and conference sponsorship, and with the level of student involvement throughout this program year. Education Chair Susan Cholette of SFSU has done an excellent job."
The Santa Clara Red Cross donated an emergency radio for a raffle and recapped key points from its Myanmar & China disaster relief briefing for the logistics community.
