Largest US Independent Furniture Company Deploys Infoblox Appliances for DNS and DHCP Services and Disaster Recovery
Market Wire, June, 2008
Infoblox Inc. today announced that Rooms to Go, America's largest independent furniture company, has selected and deployed Infoblox appliances to deliver internal and external domain name resolution (DNS), IP address assignment and management (DHCP/IPAM) services. The systems support the company's showroom networks in nine states and provide essential disaster recovery advantages.
Rooms to Go, which operates showrooms in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, offers affordable, stylish and convenient ways to shop for furniture including via the Internet. With more than one million customers shopping at Rooms to Go annually, the 24x7 availability of the company's network is critical. Nonstop delivery of DNS and DHCP is essential to maintaining that network and application uptime.
Prior to using the Infoblox solution, Rooms to Go tried several products for their core network services including a Microsoft solution and a sub-standard appliance alternative. With other approaches, Rooms to Go experienced multiple DNS failures and network downtime and realized that they needed a more robust product with advanced failover features that also offered a disaster recovery solution.
"We needed a secure and reliable solution and Infoblox delivered," said Jason Hall, IT manager at Rooms to Go. "With our business dependence on the network, failure is not acceptable. With our previous DNS solutions we experienced multiple outages, downtime and instability. The Infoblox solution has given Rooms to Go a strong, secure, highly available and affordable solution."
Rooms to Go purchased and deployed five Infoblox appliances including Infoblox-1050 and -550 systems with the DNSone package. Rooms to Go is using the products both in the main data centers and in their disaster recovery center, leveraging Infoblox's unique grid technology to ensure nonstop delivery of core network services. Infoblox's grid technology links appliances at central and remote offices into a unified, distributed system that is resilient to network and equipment failures and assures continuous uptime.
Rooms to Go retail showrooms are located in areas with high occurrences of natural disasters including hurricanes, tornados and flooding. In the event of a disaster, with designated Infoblox appliance grid members at a disaster recovery site, Rooms to Go can resume services and management of those services in minutes by promoting the DR site member appliance(s) to serve as grid masters. Other grid members throughout the organization will automatically re-home to newly designated DR site master appliances. They will be automatically updated with the data necessary to immediately respond to DNS queries and allocate DHCP leases.
