Remote Access Software Can Mitigate Effects of Economic Downturn
Market Wire, June, 2008
The economic downturn in the U.S. is affecting IT spending growth and will continue to do so throughout the year, according to a report from IDC. Corporations tightening the belt on IT expense must make business continuity a priority to ensure growth is not affected by the overall situation. Bomgar's remote access software offers opportunities to reduce IT costs while delivering superior service to a technically and geographical diverse employee and customer base.
According to the report, Worldwide Black Book Q1 2008, IDC expects IT spending growth to slow down to around 4% this year, compared to last year's 6%. The hardware market is predicted to grow less than 2%, software spending will increase by 7% and IT services by 5%. The strongest growth area is currently back-end software, network equipment and mobile devices.
However, the U.S. slow down is being propped up by global demand. As the impact of a stagnant economy reaches other countries, we can expect demand to reduce and thereby stifle U.S. growth further.
In order to meet business goals despite the economy, IT departments need to find ways to increase productivity while remaining within the budgetary constraints placed on them. They also have the additional challenges of increased complexity of technology and a burgeoning global and mobile workforce. One department where this can be easily accomplished is the IT helpdesk.
Bomgar's remote access software enables IT helpdesk managers to create a fully utilized support staff with on-site visits virtually eliminated, call resolution time reduced by 60% and first call resolution increased by 90%.
Bomgar's unique appliance-based model also simplifies implementation: Whereas other remote access software solutions require the installation of an application on the remote computer, with Bomgar, help desk staff can connect with any PC anywhere in 10 seconds regardless of their location, connection type, or platform without the need for client-side software. Additionally, company data does not run through a third party as with SaaS solutions so Bomgar's remote control software also offers unparalleled security.
More information on IT spending growth is available in IDC's report, Worldwide Black Book Q1 2008 . To find out how Bomgar's remote control software can reduce costs while improving service in a tough economy, visit the Bomgar website ( www.bomgar.com ).
