The Washington Post Company Completes First Phase of Identity and Access Management Implementation With Strategic Consulting Engagement From Logic Trends
Market Wire, July, 2008
Logic Trends, the Identity and Access Management (IAM) Specialists, today announced that The Washington Post Company has successfully completed the first phase of its identity and access management implementation using the strategic roadmap developed through an IAM5(TM) Workshop conducted by Logic Trends. Using Logic Trends' proven IAM5 methodology, the two-day workshop provided The Washington Post Company with a guide for navigating the process of building an IAM strategy and solution deployment plan that uses established methods to protect and enable access to key business assets, while also ensuring close alignment with business objectives.
The Washington Post Company is a diversified education and media company. The Company's Shared IT services operations support more than 33,000 employees around the world through a comprehensive Human Resources Information System (HRIS) extranet portal which fuels the company's data and information needs for its human resources applications, payroll management and employee benefits.
While beginning the process of a major PeopleSoft upgrade, The Washington Post Company was facing increasing licensing costs for its existing IAM system. This, along with a desire to embrace a more industry standard and easily supportable solution, prompted the company to evaluate additional IAM options. While the company's IS team already understood the value and benefits of identity management technology, it wanted to ensure that any technology transformation was evaluated carefully and performed with full visibility into the needs of the business and employees. After hearing many positive reviews about the Logic Trends team, The Washington Post Company enlisted Logic Trends to perform its IAM5 Workshop to define the technology recommendations, resource needs, business justification and execution timeline of an identity management transformation project.
"The experts at Logic Trends were able to quickly define the salient points of what would drive a successful implementation project for us," said Paul Bailey, IT project manager, The Washington Post Company. "Using data acquired during the IAM5 Workshop, they developed a comprehensive requirements document and mapped the solution implementation roadmap in exceptional detail. The resulting implementation guide identified potential pitfalls and specifically mapped technology to our business needs. The Logic Trends workshop exercise was a very worthwhile investment and was key to a successful project deployment without surprises."
Following the results of the IAM5 Workshop, The Washington Post Company leveraged Logic Trends to implement a hybrid IAM solution for its HRIS applications that includes Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager. The Logic Trends' IAM5 model provided The Washington Post Company with clear and identifiable activities to ensure success and true "right-sizing" of its IAM solution. From strategy and planning, through deployment and integration, the IAM5 model delivered the guidance and knowledge needed for a smooth migration project.
"Logic Trends provided us with top-notch talent on site -- professionals that were insightful, collaborative and committed to the project's success," said Bailey. "The firm's integration experts know identity and access management technology like no other services group in the industry. With Logic Trends' expertise behind us, we have met every milestone in our project roadmap to date."
"Logic Trends understands that one IAM solution does not fit all," said Andrew Ames, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Logic Trends. "Our IAM5 methodology and specifically our IAM5 Workshop is a proven approach to the strategy and planning of enterprise IAM that is crafted to the specific needs of each customer. Because we are laser-focused on the effective deployment of IAM solutions, we have a knowledge base that spans all of the leading platforms and best of breed technologies, along with the process, resource, effort and cost know-how that comes from hundreds of successful IAM engagements. This helps companies establish the right roadmap to achieve rapid and significant results from their IAM solution deployments."
