REMINDER/7th Esperanto Congress of the Americas to be held in Montreal: The Quebec Esperanto Society Hosts a Convention on Ecological, Linguistic and Cultural Diversity
Market Wire, July, 2008
Between July 11 and July 18, 2008, the Quebec University in Montreal (UQAM) will host the 7th Esperanto Congress of the Americas (TAKE7), whose theme this year will be 'Ecosystems, Languages, Cultures: Diversity for a Sustainable Development in the Americas'.
Organized by Esperanto-UQAM and the Quebec Esperanto Society, TAKE7 will bring together some 200 participants, from more than 15 countries, who will use a common language to communicate: Esperanto. Through lectures, debates and practical workshops, participants will develop proposals for actions that promote fair and sustainable development, based on conserving and acknowledging ecological, linguistic, and cultural diversity.
The event will also provide an opportunity to assess the state of Esperanto in the Americas and of the values promoted by the Esperanto movement: democracy, transnational education, linguistic rights and diversity, freedom, and a culture of peace
Main venue: UQAM, J.A. De Seves Building, 320 Ste-Catherine St. East, Montreal, Quebec
