Danish Defence Deploys Titus Labs Message Classification to Classify Military Email

Market Wire, July, 2008

Titus Labs Inc., the leading provider of email and document classification software today announced that the Danish Defence IT Agency, has deployed Titus Labs Message Classification to 15,000 users to force the classification of all emails in Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Web Access. The Kingdom of Denmark consists of Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands and the Danish Defence IT Agency is the central body that manages IT for the Danish Army, Navy, Air Force and Home Guard.

The Danish Defence has deployed the Titus Labs software to enhance their existing technology investments. The solution adds value to the Microsoft infrastructure by forcing users to consistently classify all emails in compliance with national and international labeling policies. Additionally, Danish Defence needed the capability to label emails in order to make data releasable to the Internet. The solution enables users to publish to the Internet from their workstations.

"Danish Defence continually assesses new information protection technology, and proven classification technologies offered by Titus Labs enable Danish Defence to force users to classify all emails," said Chief of Command, Danish Defence. "Titus Labs offers the best Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) solution for data classification and their ability to meet our specific requirements made the decision to choose Titus Labs an easy one."

According to the SANS (SysAdmin, Audit, Network, Security) Institute, a leading computer security think-tank, without data classification, information protection decisions are being made every day at the discretion of security, system and database administrators. An information classification system helps to ensure that those decisions satisfy company information protection goals.

"Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Web Access (OWA) are a powerful combination with the Titus Labs Message Classification software solution," said Tim Bloechl, Executive Director, Worldwide Public Safety and National Security at Microsoft. "Our Worldwide Public Sector customers who work in the classified world now have the ability to force their personnel to classify messages and help protect data integrity. This is an outstanding, secure messaging solution."

"It is essential to classify emails according to their value or level of sensitivity to effectively manage that data," said Blair Canavan, VP Global Sales, Titus Labs. "Our solution helps to drive awareness to the sensitivity of information, enforce policy and can grow with Defence requirements."
