Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- Patel Engineering Limited (BOM:531120) (Mumbai) is setting up a $1.5 billion, 1,200-megawatt (MW) thermal power plant in Gujarat. Gujarat currently has an installed power generation capacity of 9,600 MW. Three new power projects that are expected to be commissioned this year will raise the state's total installed capacity to 11,040 MW. One of the projects is an 800-MW coal-fed power unit in Vanakbori planned by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (Vadodara, Gujarat) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BOM:500103) (Mumbai).
