Security Experts From Around the World to Convene in New York in December
Market Wire, August, 2008
SC Magazine, the longest running information security magazine in the world, has announced the leading speakers for its inaugural SC World Congress, which will convene IT security professionals from around the world. Ever wonder how Congress is getting involved in computer security? Want to see how eBay protects your information? Curious to hear how the FBI works with Interpol and the United Nations on global attacks? SC World Congress will feature speakers from the United States Congress, eBay, AIG, GoDaddy.com and the FBI Office of International Affairs to Interpol -- United Nations. This inaugural event will take place December 9 and 10 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City -- an area that has the largest concentration of corporate headquarters and government offices in the US, creating the highest need for the latest technologies and solutions to protect valuable data.
As Internet warfare and computer viruses crash airport terminals, question public transit systems and infiltrate public records, the need to strengthen cyber borders and learn the latest in security training is paramount. SC World Congress is the only event designed to give companies actionable, inside information to help protect data -- their own and their customers', comply with regulatory demands, and stay abreast of new threats and solutions. It will feature six plenary sessions, four tracks of panels and presentations, 45 expert speakers from across industries, and an expo floor with 55 leading vendors.
Leading speakers include Congressman Jim Langevin (Dem-RI); Dave Cullinane, chief information security officer, eBay; Ty Sagalow, president, product development, general insurance, AIG; Neil Warner, chief information security officer, GoDaddy.com; and Kim Marcus, supervisory special agent, FBI Office of International Affairs to Interpol -- United Nations. Additional speakers will cut across topics and industries to talk about the latest security threats in finance, healthcare, government, and international threats. Tracks include policy and management; emerging threats and risk planning; compliance, audit and governance co-presented by ISACA NY -- Metro chapter; and editors choices for timely advice on the latest breaking threats.
"We're proud of our speaker line-up and have designed this event so that professionals from various industries can all gain from their insight," said Illena Armstrong, editor in chief, SC Magazine. "Years ago networking with your neighbor was good enough, but sharing experiences with counterparts from around the world is imperative for security professionals to stay one step ahead. The 2008 SC World Congress is the one-stop conference to network with peers and to see the latest in security innovations from our expo."
Security experts from industries including finance, healthcare and government will be speaking in sessions designed specifically for those audiences including Cybersecurity from the Eyes of a Finance Executive, HIPAA -- Not Just Your Healthcare Providers Problem Anymore, Federal Government -- Who's Really in Charge Over There?, International Cybercrime -- Who you Gonna Call?, and Offshoring -- Risk vs. Reward.
Security professionals and corporate leaders will learn about the latest strategies, techniques and solutions to protect their information assets; hear unique insights into how to protect their business from future threats, targeted attacks, and corporate espionage; and discover new ways to mitigate risk, architect secure environments, stop or isolate malware, safeguard new applications and devices, and address international security issues.
