Calendar Event Listing: International Art Gallery Moves Onto Santa Monica's Ocean Avenue, Brings Smithsonian Artist, InStyle Celebrity Photographer and Daughter of Oscar Winner on August 30, September 6 and 27

Market Wire, August, 2008

World-renowned modern artist Stephen Courtney, whose work resides in the Smithsonian and celebrity homes, is exhibiting his fine art furniture and black & white photographs in the permanent exhibition "Affair in the Garden" at Santa Monica's brand-new James Coleman Gallery, located at 1431 Ocean Avenue. Courtney, whose love of cantilever has inspired a style that defies right angles, will unveil his most current works in both creative furniture and photography at the exhibition, which opens with a reception on August 30 from 6 - 9 p.m. The opening event is presented by SPACE Magazine and proceeds will benefit Guide Dogs for The Blind.

After shooting the likes of Paris Hilton and Hilary Duff for InStyle and Paris Match magazines for a living, celebrity photographer Olivier Pojzman's massive 15-foot on canvas fine art shots of Southern California beachscapes, will debut on the bluffs of Santa Monica on September 6. Unlike traditional landscape imagery, his innovative technique uses forced perspective to stretch the 180 degree capacity of the human field of sight to a minimum of 250 degrees. The photos translate the immensity of the American landscape into two dimensions and add a painterly feel with the canvas medium. The exhibition is slated for September 6 - 25, 2008, and an opening celebration will be held on Saturday, September 6, from 7 - 9 p.m. The exhibition is presented by SPACE Magazine and proceeds will benefit Heal The Bay.

A contemporary abstract painter and classical figurative sculptress, who also happen to be daughter and mother, will show their work together at the "Tides of Emotion" exhibition. "Tides of Emotion" opens on September 27 with a reception from 6 - 9 p.m., and runs through October 16, showcasing a variety of daughter Katina's bronze nudes and busts. In their "real lives," Katina is a feature film, television and documentary editor/producer and Christa is a former '60s iconic fashion photographer and now sculptress; together they are child and wife of the late Oscar-winning film editor Peter Zinner. The reception is presented by SPACE Magazine and proceeds will benefit Heal The Bay.
