Market Wire, September, 2008
Synergex Corporation (TSX: SYX) ("Synergex" or the "Company"), a premier provider of international logistics and distribution services, today announced a new exclusive agreement with World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. (NYSE: WWE), an integrated media and entertainment company, to distribute home entertainment products in Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Chile and Argentina.
"This is an exciting opportunity for Synergex to combine its operational achievements and expertise with the success of a globally acclaimed entertainment brand like WWE® to penetrate the Latin American marketplace," said David Aiello, President & Chief Executive Officer, Synergex Corporation. "The three year exclusive agreement with WWE is a natural fit for both companies, which we expect will start bearing fruit in Q4 2008."
Synergex will provide packaging localization, sales, marketing, and logistics services in the licensed territory for WWE. The Company will leverage its expertise and retail relationships throughout each territory to promote, sell and distribute WWE home video productions to a rapidly growing Latin American market. Synergex will release original WWE documentaries, career profiles and match compilations focusing on the top WWE stars of the past and present, as well as WWE's complete pay-per-view event line-up, highlighted by its annual WrestleMania® extravaganza. This will amount to a minimum of 25 WWE releases in each territory for each year of the contract starting in Q4 2008.
"We are pleased to welcome Synergex to our growing list of international home video licensees and partners" said Joel Satin, Vice President of Home Entertainment & Books, World Wrestling Entertainment®. "This agreement supports WWE's international expansion push into Latin America, and gives us local expertise to distribute our DVDs and increase our retail presence".
Synergex provides expertise in marketing, promotion and sales for rights holders looking to penetrate foreign markets, and also packages and distributes content direct to retail. The Company's multi-media approach - representing not only film and TV, but music and digital rights - sets it apart from many distribution entities.
