Blackwave Rounds Out Executive Team With Two New Appointments

Gearing up for rapid growth in the market for advanced Internet video storage and delivery solutions, Blackwave, Inc . today announced it is expanding its core management team with two new senior executive appointments: Muriel Medard, Chief Scientist and David Feldman, Vice President, Sales.
"Muriel Medard has the deep technological expertise and creativity to move our company forward as a focused innovator in the Internet video infrastructure market, and Dave Feldman has proven sales management experience with emerging technology leaders," said Robert Rizika, Blackwave's President and Chief Executive Officer. Muriel Medard is a globally acknowledged expert in communications and networking, with extensive experience as a senior consultant in the Networking industry with companies such as Sycamore Networks and Vanu. Her work in the areas of video , video optimization and deep storage have resulted in several patents. She is a Professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at MIT. Previously, she was on the Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and at MIT Lincoln Laboratory in the Optical Networking and Advanced Networking groups. She is a Fellow of IEEE and has been awarded the IEEE Kirchmayer Prize, as well as the MIT Edgerton award and the National Academy of Engineering Gilbreth Lectureship. Medard has authored more than 200 publications. She holds a B.S. in EECS, a B.S. in mathematics, a B.S. in humanities, an M.S. in EE and a Sc.D. in EE, all from MIT.
David Feldman has over 20 years' experience building and leading high performance sales teams at all stages of growth -- from emerging technology companies to Fortune 500 technology firms. Prior to joining Blackwave, he spent four years at Isilon Systems as part of the sales leadership team where he built and managed the Western Area sales group from its inception. Under Feldman's leadership, this team cultivated a broad roster of leading global Media and Entertainment and Web 2.0 accounts. Before Isilon, he created and led the Telco sales initiative at Veritas Software. Feldman holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from Louisiana State University.
