BYE-BYE BUSH! Takes Aim at the Presidential Elections

Market Wire, October, 2008

Do Americans get their news from Williams, Gibson, Couric, CNN and the NY Times? Hell, no -- they get it from SNL, Letterman, Leno, Stewart, Colbert and Maher. And one of the most satirical looks at the U.S. political scene comes from, of all places, Holland. Boom Chicago has been serving up biting comedy to English-speaking audiences on the Leidseplein in Amsterdam for fifteen years, and it continues its tradition of cutting edge improv and sketch comedy with a multi-media show devoted to the presidential race.

BYE-BYE BUSH! opened October 6th and runs through election night, November 4th. The political two-man show provides a biting and funny take on the final month of the campaign.

It stars Jon Rosenfeld and Greg Shapiro, and is directed by Andrew Moskos. The trio has been creating and performing political comedy since 2001. Rosenfeld, who is also Boom Chicago's artistic director, was nominated for an Emmy for his writing for Saturday Night Live. Shapiro, a 15 year Boom veteran, has been the anchorman for Comedy Central's popular Comedy Central News in the Netherlands. Moskos is co-founder of Boom Chicago and producer of the stage and TV shows.

Boom Chicago continues to be active in video this political season. Comedy Central News hopes to return for a third season this autumn. Boom is creating five political videos for the Sundance Channel, and The Real Obama, a weekly web series for FremantleMedia's AtomicWedgie.

Details of BYE-BYE BUSH! can be found at www.boomchicago.com , and samples of Boom's political videos are available on www.boomchicago.tv/node/2283 (Obama Said Knock You Out) and www.boomchicago.tv/node/2284 (World Leaders for McCain).
