IBM FileNet Records Manager Receives U.S. Department of Defense 5015.2 Records Management Certification

IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that IBM FileNet Records Manager v4.5 received the U.S. Department of Defense's (DoD) Standard for Records Management (DoD 5015.2-STD V3 April 2007) certification. This certification verifies IBM FileNet Records Manager's ability to control the creation, declaration, classification, retention, application of legal holds, transfers, and destruction of electronic and non-electronic records. Additionally, IBM FileNet Records Manager was also certified to meet the stringent requirements of managing records in a classified environment where security and access are paramount.

Certification is required for all records management solutions implemented by the DoD. It is widely adopted as a de facto standard for many commercial organizations and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has endorsed the DoD standard for use by all Federal agencies. As a result of the continuing shift towards increased collaboration across government, this standard has become an integral component of many Federal Agencies' records management practices -- enabling organizations to improve inter-agency collaboration without compromising security.

To earn certification, FileNet Records Manager demonstrated that it can meet a multitude of mandatory requirements in both classified and unclassified environments such as implementing and managing file plans, handling multiple records disposition phases, declaring and filing records including email messages, managing metadata, supporting vital records, controlling security, and placing legal holds on records.

FileNet Records Manager v4.5 works together with other IBM ECM capabilities such as Content Collection & Archiving, Advanced Classification, and eDiscovery. IBM FileNet Records Manager v4.5 also has the capability to manage records in multiple IBM and other third party repositories.

New features of FileNet Records Manager v4.5 include:

Functionality designed to facilitate the transfer of records from a Federal Agency to NARA, utilizing IBM ZeroClick records-process features.

Performance enhancements for records deletion, multithreaded batch operations, and dynamic hold to support large content based retrieval (CBR) result sets.

Single Sign On (SSO) for easier user interoperability across the Workplace, and Workplace XT and records administration user interfaces.

Multilanguage support so that an RM server can be configured to use multiple language packs for expanded support of global, multilingual enterprise records management environments.
