JoinTheDot(TM) Day "What's Your Message to the Next President?" Hits the Streets of LA
Market Wire, October, 2008
WHO:
JoinTheDot(TM) "What's Your Message to the Next President?," sponsored by American Airlines, and in collaboration with Rock the Vote and Ken Kragen, the legendary producer of "Hands Across America" and "We are the World."
ABOUT:
JoinTheDot(TM) will be traveling around Los Angeles in conjunction with their "What's Your Message to the Next President?" campaign. The day will be dedicated to giving people the opportunity to voice their message for the next President of the United States, and, at the same time, become part of the Presidential Portraits of Barack Obama and John McCain.
Celebrity artist, David Ilan, will be traveling with JoinTheDot(TM) to physically put each individual's dot into the works of art. This unique method of art known as pointillism uses millions of tiny hand-drawn dots to create one larger image. Each dot in these portraits represents one person and a message to their favorite candidate. The Smithsonian museum is in discussions with JoinTheDot(TM) to display the works of art following the election.
Ilan, a renowned portrait artist who has worked with such celebrities as Eric McCormack of "Will and Grace" and the cast of "Seinfeld," will be visiting various locations throughout Los Angeles, including schools, tourist attractions, community centers, health clubs and fire stations, where he will truly give people an enduring voice in this election. JoinTheDot(TM) is bringing together millions of people to participate in the creation of two contemporary presidential portraits -- one of Barack Obama and the other of John McCain. Each work of art will be an enduring freeze-frame of the hopes, dreams and experiences of the American people.
