Universal Detection Technology Receives Purchase Order for Its 5-Agent Bioterrorism Detection Equipment From the City of Conway, Arkansas Fire Department

Universal Detection Technology ( www.udetection.com ) (OTCBB: UNDT) (FRANKFURT: PO8), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats and provider of counter-terrorism consulting and training services, reported today that it has received a purchase order for its 5-agent bioterrorism detection equipment from the City of Conway, Arkansas Fire Department. The detection equipment is designed to check for anthrax, botulinum, ricin, Y. Pestis (plague), and SEBs in one test.

In the last week more than 30 letters containing a suspicious powder were mailed to Chase bank branches and federal banking regulators' offices in nine cities. According to a law enforcement official, the letters were mailed to Chase bank branches in or near Atlanta, Chicago, Columbus, Ohio, Dallas, Denver, Newark, N.J., New York City, Oklahoma City and Washington.

The FBI also released a report that it had investigated over 900 threats made with envelopes containing white powder probably meant to look like anthrax. "Interesting enough, over the past two-years, the FBI has responded to over 900 of these threat letters," said FBI spokesman Rich Kolko. The FBI has appealed to the public for help with finding the perpetrator who has been sending banks, financial institutions and federal agencies threat letters and powder-stuffed envelopes.
