Cartier Confirms Extension of North Gold Zone Over 1 km
Market Wire, November, 2008
Cartier Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE: ECR) ("Cartier") is pleased to announce that the North Gold Zone is now recognized over a strike length of 1.0 km. Gold mineralization occurs over significant widths. The mineralized system is open laterally and at depth. The gold-bearing system is exceptional due to the significant volume of the alteration and the mineralization envelope. These characteristics are similar to world class deposits. This dyke system and associated alteration is reminiscent of those found with the mineralization at Kerr Addison and Harker-Holloway Mines (refer to Cartier AIF on www.sedar.com ).
Presently, seven diamond drill holes have cut the gold-bearing zone at shallow depths (refer to attached plan and longitudinal). The weighted averages for the intersections in these seven holes are:
KI-08-22: 0.30 g/t Au over 13.4 m and 0.12 g/t Au over 17.5 m; including 1.0 g/t Au over 1.0 m;
KI-08-23: 0.35 g/t Au over 67.0 m; including 0.56 g/t Au over 20.5 m; including 1.42 g/t Au over 1.5 m;
KI-08-28: 0.16 g/t Au over 30.0 m; including 1.9 g/t Au over 1.0 m;
KI-08-29: 0.65 g/t Au over 19.0 m; including 7.27 g/t Au over 1.0 m;
KI-08-30: 0.40 g/t Au over 18.0 m; including 1.1 g/t Au over 1.0 m;
KI-08-31: 0.17 g/t Au over 27.7 m; 0.35 g/t Au over 7.0 m; including
0.8 g/t Au over 1.0 m;
KI-08-34: 0.33 g/t Au over 29.0 m; including 2.34 g/t Au over 1.4 m.
The Zone was discovered within a corridor of carbonate-talc-chlorite and fuchsite altered schistose mafic rocks in the west-central portion of the Kinojevis project. The shear zone varies from 100 to 300 meters in width and is now seen to outcrop over 8 km. It is believed to be the extension of the prolific Porcupine-Destor fault. The shear is bounded to the north by an ankerite-albite altered syenitic dyke ensemble strewn with gold-bearing quartz-pyrite veins and veinlets.
Several higher grade zones within the intersections provide vectors for follow-up drill testing.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control
The Kinojevis exploration program is conducted under the supervision of Mr. Philippe Berthelot, P. Geo., qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. Cartier has implemented and adheres to a strict Quality Assurance/Quality Control program which includes mineralized standards and blanks for each batch of samples. Assay samples are taken from drill core sawed in half with one half sent to a commercial laboratory and the other half retained for future reference. Analyses are either performed by Techni-lab S.G.B. Abitibi inc. in Sainte-Germaine, Quebec, or by ALS-Chemex in Val-d'Or, Quebec, both accredited laboratories.
