Roundbox Demonstrates First Netbook With Integrated Prototype Mobile DTV Receiver
Market Wire, April, 2009
NAB Show -- Roundbox, Inc., the leader in mobile broadcast software, today announced a demonstration of the first netbook with integrated Mobile DTV reception at the 2009 National Association of Broadcasters Show (NAB) in Las Vegas. The technology demonstration combines a Dell Inspiron(TM) Mini 10 with the Roundbox Client and an integrated prototype tuner from LG Electronics to provide consumers television on the go and Mobile DTV widgets in addition to Internet.
"The Roundbox Client gives mini-notebook manufacturers an immediate way to capitalize on the growing momentum around Mobile DTV," said Vinod Valloppillil, vice president, product marketing at Roundbox. "This prototype clearly demonstrates the ability to seamlessly integrate Mobile DTV into a netbook giving consumers a compelling new TV entertainment capability in conjunction with the device's strong networking functions."
By using an entertainment-centric product like the Dell Inspiron Mini 10, which is optimized for mobility and Internet connectivity, Roundbox is able to highlight how the netbook is the ideal device for integrating Mobile DTV capability. Dell is an industry leader in bringing integrated TV capability to the notebook and netbook markets worldwide. In the coming months, the Inspiron Mini 10 will offer optional built-in support for several digital broadcast standards including DVB-T (Europe), ATSC (U.S.), CMMB (China) and ISDB-T (Japan). Dell believes Mobile DTV is an important development for the broadcast community and endorses the ATSC-M/H as the emerging mobile DTV standard for the U.S.
Roundbox will be demonstrating the power of the Roundbox Mobile Broadcast Suite at the NAB Show, held on April 18-23 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Demonstrations can be seen in the Harris exhibit, Booth N-2502, in the OMVC exhibit, Booth C-8150 and at the ATSC Mobile DTV Pavilion in the LG Electronics / Zenith exhibit, Booth C-8546-F.
