York Telecom Helps Energy Efficiency Office With Telepresence Selection
Market Wire, June, 2009
York Telecom, a leading global provider of visual communications services and solutions, has worked with the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), to advance their video conferencing capabilities to include Tandberg Telepresence solutions.
With the mission of strengthening the United States' energy security, environmental quality, and economic vitality in public-private partnerships, EERE sees the need to utilize technologies that are environmentally friendly and socially responsible. With this mission in hand, York Telecom and Tandberg worked with EERE to spearhead the organization's Telepresence surge by having six systems installed in EERE's U.S. locations. The Telepresence solutions will enable users to feel and appear as if they are present in a location in which they are not physically located.
The Tandberg Telepresence solutions meet EERE's need for high level conferencing while supporting agency practices that strive to decrease the energy use and productivity impacts required with cross-country travel. Telepresence meetings provide the quality of a face to face presentation while eliminating unnecessary travel, allowing EERE to reduce its carbon footprint and the amount of energy used to support in-person meetings.
York Telecom strives to provide customers with solutions that are environmentally friendly. "In a time when the social conscious is heightened and how resources are managed is on everyone's radar, we understand our customers need to have communication solutions designed and built in environmentally and socially responsible ways," explains Ken Scaturro, York Telecom's Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Business Development. "We like knowing that we are working with partners and customers who operate solutions that are making a positive impact on our planet."
