ABC's The Bachelorette Continues Its Romantic Adventures Through BC
Market Wire, June, 2009
British Columbia's starring role on ABC's (City TV in Canada) primetime hit The Bachelorette, from Warner Horizon Television, continues with the June 22nd episode. For a third week in a row, BC will feature prominently in the show which is seen in millions of homes throughout the US and Canada.
In the upcoming episode, this season's Bachelorette, Vancouver's Jillian Harris, takes her eight remaining suitors onboard the Rocky Mountaineer for a romantic train journey through stunning BC landscapes. The Rocky Mountaineer ran an exclusive train for The Bachelorette's cast. As part of their excursion, they also filmed near Field, BC, and stayed at the luxurious Emerald Lake Lodge.
BC was also the backdrop for two previous episodes of The Bachelorette this season. The first saw Jillian showcase her hometown of Vancouver; from mountaintop dining at Grouse Mountain Resort to kayaking to Granville Island, viewers got a taste of the tourism possibilities available in Vancouver. From there, the show moved to Whistler where Jillian and the bachelors participated in some extraordinary experiences - including a snowmobile trip to the remote Callaghan Backcountry Lodge, ziptrekking over Fitzsimmons Creek and the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola connecting Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.
"This has been an incredible opportunity to showcase BC to millions of North American viewers," said Grant Mackay, Vice President, Consumer Marketing, Tourism British Columbia. "Six hours of primetime television provides a great showcase for our province. We look forward to building on the exposure for BC as we head towards the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games."
Tourism British Columbia escorted The Bachelorette's cast for the bulk of their filming in British Columbia. Tourism BC worked in partnership with the Canadian Tourism Commission, Tourism Vancouver, Tourism Whistler, The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler, the Rocky Mountaineer and Emerald Lake Lodge to highlight the unique tourism experiences in beautiful British Columbia. This is the second time the province has been featured on this type of reality show. In 2004, The Bachelor filmed in Vancouver and Whistler.
