Excel Heating and Cooling Owner Tom Banks Named Wood Dale Business Leader of the Year
Market Wire, June, 2009
The Wood Dale Chamber of Commerce has named Tom Banks, owner of Excel Heating and Cooling, its 2009 Business Leader of the Year.
Chamber President Lorrie Heggaton presented Tom Banks with the award at the Chamber's Monthly Luncheon. The inscription on the plaque reads: "We proudly present this award in recognition of your outstanding business leadership skills, commitment to your community and the chamber of commerce. Your devotion and commendable service over the years is a model which will be a standard in the future."
Tom started Excel Heating and Cooling in 1982 and has been a long-time, active member of the Wood Dale Chamber, serving on the Board of Directors for many years and as President during 1995-96.
"I was quite surprised and honored to win this award. I had just returned the week before from being selected as the 'best of the best' among heating companies in the Midwest," explained Tom Banks. "It's been a very exciting year between winning two awards and the new government tax credit of 30% of the cost, up to $1,500, when customers install energy efficient heating and cooling systems during 2009 and 2010."
Wood Dale Chamber President Lorrie Heggaton said, "Tom Banks genuinely cares about business and the community, and freely gives his time and expertise whenever it is needed. He recently helped with senior activities, the annual golf outing, and co-hosted the Wood Dale parade. Tom is a truly nice person and can always be counted on."
