Market Wire, June, 2009

Attention - General newsdesk, assignment editor

Early Wednesday morning a tragic accident occurred involving a mechanic from Otis Elevators at 66 Wellington Street West tower. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of the deceased whose identity has not yet been publicly released.

We can confirm that as of 2:03 pm EST all eight passengers were safely removed from the #27 elevator cab on the 44th floor where they had been enclosed.

The Toronto-Dominion Centre has been fully cooperating with investigators throughout the day as emergency responders diligently attend to the scene.

The Ministry of Labour is on scene working in partnership with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) to determine the cause of this incident, which remains unknown at this time.

For the past five years maintenance and repair of the elevator equipment has been contracted to Otis elevators.

The investigation of the accident continues, no further facts are known at the present time.
