Gonzalez has gathered a collection of the most popular Latin American folktales and retold them in English (with a smattering of Spanish words translated for the readers).

Each tale includes an overview of its origin. These cuentos (stories)not only entertain,but also subtly instruct the reader in the values of sharing, and how to use one's wit and cleverness.
