Fundraising
Childhood Education, Winter 2003/2004 by Parsons, Aaron
Fundraising-it is the lifeblood of our student Branches, providing the fuel to propel us toward accomplishing our goals. I encourage each Branch to build up enough funds to become self-sufficient and be able to meet all of their goals in support of ACEI's mission. Of course, Branch members understand that there is more to being a part of a professional organization than fundraising. I urge the student Branches to set their sights higher, to what isn't easily achieved. It is when we have a vision for something that is barely conceivable that we just might succeed and do something powerful for the children of the world.
With this column, I hope to inspire you to dream, succeed, and see the forest amongst the trees. During the upcoming semester, remember that ACEI is at your beck and call with an incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. The ACEI membership is also at the table with you, ready to support your Branches along the way. It is comforting to know that thousands of teachers around the world are working to create an environment that is giving children what they deserve-their childhood.
Now is your time to dream and your time to achieve what no one believes is possible. This is our organization, where we share like goals and a vision for the future. Take your Branch and create a vision to create a better future. I stand with you, ready to lend support and encouragement.
The student listserv is still up and running. If you would like to join, please visit http://groups.msn.com/ aceimembers and then click on "apply to join" on the right side of your screen. You will need to create an ID; once you are logged in, you can choose to have the E-mails sent to your inbox. ACEI also has many different newsletters that can assist you in your work with children; simply visit the newly redesigned Web site for more information (www.acei.org).
As a reminder, the Annual Conference is a time to gather and work towards the common goals of ACEI. It is an excellent opportunity to relight the passion to better the lives of our world's children. The 2004 conference will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana.
As your Student Representative, I am your voice on, and to, the Executive Board. Feel free to contact me (aaronparsons@juno.com) with any ideas or concerns. It is through communication and openness that we can work together successfully.
