Watters, Debbie, with Haydn and Emmett Watters WHERE'S MOM'S HAIR? A Family's Journey Through Cancer. Photos by Sophie Hogan. ISBN 1-896764-94-0. Toronto, ON: Second Story Press, 2005. 32 pp. $12.95 CAN/$10.95 U.S. Children and families everywhere have been in need of this book. At last, a realistic look at the journey a family goes through when mom has cancer-the joys, the fears, and the facts, shared from the children's perspective. The focus on "we" captivated this reviewer. "Mom got cancer . . . [but] we made it through the operation . . . through chemotherapy . . . mom going bald. We all did it together." A child reading this will be reassured that he or she is not alone. Hogan does a magnificent job capturing in photos the mixed emotions of the family and friends as they experience this journey. Humorous moments provide the levity a child needs while reading about a scary and unsettling time. Ages 6 up. Reviewed by Isabel Killoran, York University, Toronto, ON
