Siemens AG's (Alpharetta, GA) Industrial Solutions and Services Group and Datastream Systems Inc. (Greenville, SC) signed an agreement for Siemens to license, implement, and support Datastream's family of asset life-cycle management solutions and services. The agreement will allow Siemens to offer a comprehensive, Web-based Enterprise Asset Management systems to its customers.

Manufacturing Data Systems Inc. MDSI, (Ann Arbor, MI), a provider of Internet-enabled software, computer numerical control, and motion technology software announced a multiyear product development and license agreement with Hurco Companies Inc. (Indianapolis, IN), a global developer of software, machine systems, and industrial automation.

Eaton Corp. (Southfield, MI), in a 500 million contract is providing General Motors (Warren, MI) with variable-valve actuation technology and components for GM's new advanced powertrain technology called Displacement on Demand. This system, scheduled for GM's Generation IV V8 engine beginning in 2004, is intended to improve fuel economy without sacrificing power and performance.

Autodesk Inc. (San Rafael, CA), a software developer, announced that A-dec (Newburg, OR), a dental equipment manufacturer, standardized on Autodesk Inventor software by purchasing 30 licenses for its products' design and manufacturing.

SolidWorks Corp. (Concord, MA), a CAD software developer, announced that Comau (Turin, Italy), a Tier I auto parts manufacturer, selected SolidWorks software for its powertrain division. Comau purchased 50 installations with at least 70 more planned.

Bridgeport Machines Inc. (Bridgeport, CT) announced that they have developed a strategic agreement with Star Asset Management Group (New York) to assist manufacturers with used machine trades as part of a new machine purchase. Bridgeport Machines will consider any machine in trade, which will allow its distributors and sales engineers to provide assistance to manufacturers for their productivity growth through both the addition and subtraction of machines for asset management.
