"Button" Structure Wheels For fine-grinding diamond and CBN wheels, the company offers a "button" structure design that allows improved coolant flow into the grinding zone. Powdered metal, steel, and other ferrous materials can be ground without burning or other metallurgical damage. Parts can be produced 10 times faster at much lower cost with these wheels. In tests, both powdered metal and steel components have been finished to 15 R^sub a^. The button wheels are available in diameters from 4.5 to 45.6" (114-1158 mm) and grits from 120 to 180.

Miter Bandsaw
Features of MS1218V 12" (305-- mm) bandsaw include 0 to 45 deg miter cutting without swinging the material, oil-bath gearbox, and cast iron bed. The 2-hp (1.5-- kW) main drive motor has a magnetic starter and overload protection. Other features include solid-- carbide blade guides, quick-position 18" (457-mm) vise, and adjustable head feed with power lift. Saw accepts up to 12" round stock, 10 x 16" (254 x 406-mm) rectangular stack at 90 deg , and 8 x 12" (203 x 305-mm) rectangular stock at 45 deg.

Precision Grinding Machines
Three-axis CNC grinding machine includes self-training software and autoloading system. Standard repeatability is 0.000030" (0.0008 mm). The units come in 3 or 5" (76 or 127-mm) models, based on regulating roll and blade width. The machines are designed for rapid set up. Changing from a 1/4 to a 3/4" (6.4-19-mm)-diam piece takes less than one minute. A solid-carbide blade pivot rod and main spindle make the unit rigid for fast and high-volume stock removal. Machines use standard lAl grinding wheels in both diamond and CBN that are dressed by a built-in CNC system. The machine is offered in three models: 6, 7.5, or 9" (152, 190, or 229-- mm) travel. The self-training software teaches inexperienced operators how to grind and how to operate the machine. Maintenance and training features of the software are helpful to companies that are ISO or QS certified, or in the process of certification.

Profile Grinder
AC digital servomotors drive all axes of the model 1100CNC profile grinder. The X and Y axes have linear slides for more stable grinding. Version 5 software, which controls the unit, can store up to 10,000 part programs. Linear rails provide added rigidity to improve part finish and reduce dwell time.

High-Speed Saw
Touch Tech 60 has a 20 x 25" (508 x 635-mm) throat capacity, 60 deg mitering in both directions, and 3 deg slanted column. Blade drive has torque monitoring vector control. There is also fullstroke hydraulic vising, and 48" (1219-mm) index table. Optional features include 10,16, or 22' (3, 4.9, 6.7 m) index tables. Control simplifies set up while ensuring accuracy by displaying drawings of each finished piece while the part is programmed.

Precision Spindles
High-torque motorized spindles are available in three models. The MCS-1 delivers 49 lb-in of torque and 3.1 hp (2.3 kW ) at 5000 rpm. The MCS-2 for heavyduty applications delivers 108 lb-in of torque at 8 hp (6 kW) and 5000 rpm; and the MCS-1HS delivers 4.4 hp (3.3 kW) at 12,000 rpm and 23 lb-in of torque. They have 40-mm triplex class 7DTDB front bearings for greater thrust and heavy-duty performance. Units feature permanent magnet CD brushless motors, grease lubrication, liquid motor cooling, and the AirShield sealing system for the nose end bearing.
