New Control

Manufacturing Engineering, Jul 2004

Updating its machine control offerings, Mori Seiki USA (Irving, TX) has released its MAPPS II (Mori Seiki Advanced Programming Production System) for the company's machine tool lineup.

Designed to enhance and simplify: functionality, the MAPPS II system offers increased user-friendliness in an industrially hardened design that withstands the vibration and contaminants present in machining. The MAPPS system's updated hardware includes memory increased from 32 MB to 256 MB, including 50 MB available for program storage.

The new control features a 15'' flat panel display on certain machine models and a new operating panel designed to aid ease of use. In addition, the control adds 3-D cutting simulations that enables users to view line-by-line displays of toolpaths with the program. The system also reduces the number of inputs required to set up jobs, such as automatic computing of radius endpoints.
