Dover Elevator acquires Midstate
CNY Business Journal (1994-95), May 29, 1995 by Weaver, Gray
SYRACUSE--Midstate Elevator Company, New York state's largest independently owned elevator and accessibility service firm, has become part of Dover Elevator Company, Memphis, Tenn.
Midstate's commercial division will continue under its own name, specializing in maintenance, service, and rehabilitation of commercial and industrial elevators. The company expects to expand this market.
The residential and light-commercial division has separated into a new company now called Dover Accessibility Products. This operation makes incline-lifts for stairways and produces a range of other equipment, principally for the handicapped.
Offering design, installation, and service for home, school, church, and other markets, Dover Accessibility will represent products made by all Dover divisions, as well as those of Access Industries, Inc. in Kansas City, Mo., Inclinator Company of America in Harrisburg, Pa., and Sedgewick and D. A. Matot, both in Chicago.
"We want to continue what we at Midstate Elevator have generated over the last few years," says John Bartle, now manager of the new Dover Accessibility Products group here. "There's no change in what we do or how we're doing it. If anything, we'll be able to cover more of New York state than ever before. And," he declares, "being part of Dove gives additional accessibility products for our customers. Also, we now have the know-how and strength of one of the world's largest elevator and accessibility companies."
