Motors matched to load profiles lead to high-efficiency service

Pulp & Paper, Aug 1995 by Cole, Richard, Thome, Terry

The main caution regarding the switch to new energy-efficient electric motors is an old, familiar and simple one: look before you leap. Substantial savings will result if enough time and care are invested in determining the correct load values to plug into the formula, so the premium-efficiency motor will be properly specified for the job it is intended to do and the environment in which it will work.

RICHARD COLE is Product manager for industrial motors, and TERRY THOME is senior product engineer for industrial motors at Dayton Electric Manufacturing Co.
