Weyerhaeuser Co. said it has made improvements to its Exeter and Cerritos box plants in California and has focused its national bulk packaging output at the two plants. Before the improvements were made, material had to be trucked to California from Weyerhaeuser's bulk packaging facility in Butler, Ind.," the company said in a release.

The Butler plant continues to operate with excess capacity at the plant "taken up by other big-box customers wanting our product in the (U.S.) Midwest," said a company official. The plant improvements included installing a single facer and preheater, upgrading a stacker, and modifying a glue machine and knife. "Now, we will have Triplewall, AAA fluting capabilities, and dedicated converting equipment here on the West Coast," said Brian Haun, Weyerhaeuser's regional vice president of bulk packaging.
