PROMOTIONS, APPOINTMENTS AND HONORS

PAPER COMPANIES

BOWATER

Joseph B. Johnson has been elected vice president, controller. Colin R. Wolfe has been elected vice president and treasurer. Michael F. Nocito has been elected vice president of administration and planning, newsprint division. Duane A. Owens has been elected assistant treasurer and director, investor relations. Megan A. Mosley has been elected assistant controller and director, accounting operations.

BUCKEYE TECHNOLOGIES

The company has announced the establishment of an organization to bring new products to market on an accelerated schedule. It will be led by Jeffery T. Cook who has been appointed senior vice president, marketing. Susan L.H. Crenshaw has been appointed vice president, market development. Henry E. Hall has been appointed vice president, commercial development. In other senior management changes, Paul N. Home has been appointed senior vice president, product and market development, succeeding Cook. Douglas L. Dowdell has been appointed senior vice president, specialty fibers. He succeeds Home and Christian Chavassieu, senior vice president, wood cellulose, who has resigned. Marko M. Rajamaa has been appointed vice president, nonwovens sales, Europe, succeeding Dowdell.

MOD-PAC

David B. Lupp has been appointed CFO.

MOHAWK FINE PAPERS

Salvatore Cantali has been named director, human resources. Charles H. Greiner, Jr. has been appointed to the board of directors.

NEENAH PAPER

John F. McGovern has been elected to the board of directors. He was also appointed to serve on the board's compensation committee and nominating and corporate governance committee.

SMURFIT-STONE

Lane Hunter, senior vice president, sales and marketing, container division, is on indefinite medical leave. On an interim basis, the sales and marketing function will be headed by a team consisting of John Riconosciuto, COO, Jim Nolan, vice president of corporate sales, strategic merchandising solutions and graphics, as well as recently appointed vice presidents of sales, John Crimmin, Steve Jevyak, Bob Nelson, Tom Piggott and Don Roy.

STORA ENSO

Gary Parafinczuk has been appointed executive vice president, corporate human resources and business excellence and member of the management group. Scott Lipinski will succeed Parafinczuk as senior vice president, human resources, region North America.

TEMBEC

James Lopez has formally assumed the position of president and CEO. He succeeds Frank A. Dottori who has retired. André Bérard and Emanuele (Lino) Saputo have been elected to the board of directors.

SUPPLIER COMPANIES

BUCKMAN LABORATORIES

Michael R. Anstey has been promoted to general manager, European operations. Alexandre Mesquita is now director of global technologies. Jim Fitzhenry is now vice president, research and development.

FEDERAL INTERNATIONAL

John Daniel has been named president, paper division.

MOTION INDUSTRIES

Tom Miller, executive vice-president and COO, will have six groups report to him. Each will be led by a group vice-president. They are John Walters, southwest; Kevin Storer, west; Jeff Rouse, east; Mark Sheehan, central; Tim Breen, midwest; David James, southeast.

SOLVAY CHEMICALS

James Daly has been named to the position of vice president, peroxygens.

UNISOURCE WORLDWIDE

Edward I. Parley has been named vice president, sales, paper business segment.
