Governor honors hero: McCullum releases funds for airport improvements

During his visit to La Crosse on Monday, Gov. Scott McCallum signed a document that releases state funds for a $1 million project to purchase equipment and complete a variety of improvements at La Crosse Municipal Airport.
McCallum signed the document at a Strictly Business After 5 mixer, sponsored by the Greater La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce, at Dahl Motors' new detail center at 201 Ferry St.
The $1,033,000 airport project includes the purchase of two law enforcement vehicles, security-related improvements, construction of a new electrical vault building and reimbursement for land purchased for runway approach protection. The state is contributing $50,000, the city of La Crosse is providing $50,000, and the Federal Aviation Administration is contributing $933,000.
