Three Rivers Outdoors has entered a new lease with the city of La Crosse for a portion of the first floor of the Doerflinger building, 400 Main St.

The five-year lease allows the company to complete an expansion. Three Rivers will double its retail floor space and have room for an office area, said Dan Berg, one of the owners. Renovations have begun within the store, and the city is installing a new heating and air conditioning system, he said.

The new lease shows Three Rivers Outdoors' commitment to downtown, Berg said. "We want to make sure we continue to be part of the growth and exciting rejuvenation that is taking place downtown."

The city has been responsive in dealing with the building's previous issues, Berg said. "Three Rivers Outdoors is very confident in moving forward with the city in its plans to complete the development of the Doerflinger building.

In December, the city will consider a lease with Feminine Fancies, the other tenant, on the first floor of the Doerflinger building.
