WEST SALEM, Wis. - A Coney Island restaurant and Lloyd's Speedstop gas station/convenience store will open early next week in a new building at 83 Buol Road, at the West Salem exit off Interstate 90. And a Quiznos Sub restaurant will open about Nov. 1 in the building's other space.

Shane Wehrs opened his first Lloyd's Speedstop in November 2002 in Bangor, Wis., and said Friday he expects to open his second location by Tuesday. He constructed the new 8,850square-foot building in West Salem, and is leasing space to the owners of Coney Island and Quiznos.

Among other things, Wehrs said, his West Salem store will sell deli and bakery items made at his Bangor store. Hours at his West Salem store probably will be 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, he said. Wehrs expects to have about a dozen employees at the new store. Its phone number will be (608) 786-2888.

Chris Kapellas, son of Coney Island owner Tom Kapellas, said his La Crosse-based chain is leasing about 1,200 square feet of space in the new West Salem building. It will be the chain's fourth restaurant.

The new Coney Island will open Tuesday, Kapella said.

Ryan Johnson, who opened his first Quiznos restaurant on April 15 in Onalaska, said he expects to open his West Salem restaurant about Nov. 1. It will be his second Quiznos restaurant, and he expects to eventually open more.
