Construction begins at The Reserve

Public Record, The, Jun 05, 1998

INDIAN WELLS--Construction has been started on the first of 41 bungalow homes, which are a part of the mix of 250 residential units to be built at the exclusive 615-acre The Reserve country club.

A project of Los Angeles-based Lowe Enterprises, the club will include among its amenities an 18-hoe golf course and a 30,000 square foot clubhouse.

Plans call for the Wiskopf-Morrish designed golf course to be completed by the end of 1998 and the first of the homes by Thanksgiving.

The project site adjoins the famous Vintage Club, Ironwood Country Club and the Living Desert and is viewed to be just as upscale as the Vintage Club in both location, quality of homes and amenities.

The developers first residential project in the Coachella Valley was Shadow Mountain Golf Club at 73-800 Ironwood in Palm Desert, and its most recent commercial project was the Desert Crossing Shopping Center in Palm Desert.

Plans call for the construction of 41 bungalows, 65 casitas and 56 villas, with the balance of the lots to be sites for custom homes. They will be interspersed around the golf course and lakes, which will dot the site.

Several prominent architects were involved in the design work. McLarand-Vasquez & Partners of Costa Mesa were responsible for the bungalow and casitas designs and Prest Vukisic of Palm Desert handled the architectural work for the Villas. The clubhouse is the responsibility of Altevers Associates of San Diego.

Of the 615 acres in The Reserve, 560 are in western Indian Wells and 55 in Palm Desert.

A flood channel, which will link up with the White water Channel, runs through the project and required extensive grading to satisfy city and state officials, and environmental groups.
